Two Heartbroken Rescue Dogs Comfort Each Other At Shelter

When it comes to kindness and compassion, animals seem to have no limits. They can be beaten and abused until they are an inch from death, but can still make a loving pet for the person who steps up and adopts them. They seem to forgive better than anything else on the planet. An example of this boundless compassion and empathy was put on display when 4 month old boxer mix Sammie was admitted to an animal shelter. Sammie was in really bad shape, and scared of his new surroundings, until Simon came into his room to give him so reassurance. Break out your tissues, you’re going to need them for this one.

When Sammie was first brought into the shelter, he was scared and confused. Who could blame him. Someone had spray painted him, shot him in the head and then dragged him behind their car. Stories like this really do make me sick to my stomach.

Soon after he was brought in however another abused dog named Simon seemed to know that he needed a friend. Simon walked into Sammie’s room unprompted, and lightly rested his paw against Sammie’s. If this picture doesn’t move you to tears, I don’t know what will.

Now Simon doesn’t leave Sammie’s side. The two have become pals, and seem to have a special bond with one another.

Even though they were rescued weeks apart, the two dogs just seem to know that they both came from similar situations.

This little guy definitely needs all the love and support he can get. How could ever do anything so heinous to this adorable little face?

While Simon will be available for adoption fairly soon, Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC has said that Sammie’s road to recovery is going to be decent amount of time. She also had this to say about these to friends, “The compassion and understanding between animals is beyond me.” I truly agree with that statement. How Simon knew that Sammie needed a friend at that point is something I don’t think we will ever understand. Thankfully he knew though, and was able to be there for Sammie in a way that no human probably ever could. This little guys needs all the help he can get, if you can help in any way we highly encourage you to.
