Future is uncertain. All of us know this. One never knows what is coming their way. It is often said that “everything happens for a reason”, but who knows that whether the reason will be in our favor or would the cards be against us. Though things might not make sense now, be optimistic and believe that they will have a meaningful impact in the days to come.

This is a tale of a couple, who adopts a Chinese baby girl. Life was nothing but ordinary until the day she attentively hears their old clock.  What happens after the little girl hears the sound from the old clock was truly unbelievable. Everyone just had a single question running through their minds that, “Is something like this even possible?” Read in here to find out what was that sound from the clock and what were its repercussions.

The Baby Girl

She was an adopted child. A little girl who owes her happy and healthy life to her adopted parents. She was found in a paper box which was lying outside a train station for days. She then found a clock in a shoebox at her new parents’ house and it leads to something profound. Something that was strange to the entire world. Well, let’s start from the very beginning and see how things unfolded.

 

Chuck And Kim Walker

Chuck and Kim Walker have known each other since long. Even they didn’t realize when their friendship blossomed into something more pure and blissful. It all began with visiting the church together and meeting each other at Sunday prayer meets. Though Chuck and Kim did not expect much out of these casual meetings, these meetings marked a significant beginning in their lives.

 

The Proposal

And one fine day, Chuck gathered all his courage and presented his deep-lying feelings of love to Kim. Just like any other girl would be, even Kim was surprised. She wasn’t expecting anything like this to come her way. Kim too somewhere knew that Chuck was more than a friend to her but never agreed. And now, that Chuck was all on his knees, Kim couldn’t have got a better opportunity to reciprocate her feelings.

 

Happily Forever

Kim readily accepted Chuck’s proposal. She too admitted her love for him. And then what? The duo tied the knot in the year 1982 in the presence of their family, friends, and relatives. It was a typical Christian White Wedding. The much in love friends were now officially a happily married couple. Their friends in a teasing manner now called them, “The Walkers”.

 

Our Family

Kim and Chuck were enjoying their newlywed phase. All this marriage craziness was exciting to them. The new-new love, the abundance of wishes from friends and most importantly their companionship as husband and wife. Now that the couple was married, was leading a steady life, had financial stability, they thought it was the best time to cherish parenthood and plan their own family.

 

Arriving Footsteps

After some two years, the couple conceived their first child. In the year 1984. Like any other first time parents, Kim and Chuck were extremely cautious about their every step. Kim followed a particular routine, she had fixed diet pattern and visited her gynecologist for regular check-ups. It was almost nine months and the baby Walker could arrive any time soon.

It’s A Boy

The wait of nine long months bore fruit. The couple gave birth to a handsome baby boy. The moment Chuck held his baby for the first time, he had tears in his eyes. He says, ” it was a feeling too difficult to describe in words. It was pure bliss”. The couple named the new member of their family as Brad Walker. Soon only the couple planned a sibling for Brad.

 

Family Complete

Kim and Chuck planned their second child after Brad was some, one and a half year old. They were determinant to complete their family and always felt that a baby girl would complete so. While this time too they took all the precautions, a tragedy knocked at their doors.

 

Lost The Child

Before even Kim and Chuck could cherish the happiness of their second baby, Kim lost her second baby boy at birth. The couple was heart-broken. None expected that something like this would happen. Kim was in immense pain and nothing could console the mother’s pain caused by the loss of her newborn. But as they say only in darkness can one see the stars, a shining star was making way into their lives.

 

Adopting A Child

The loss of a baby was a very painful thing to experience, but it did not stop the couples’ urge to complete their family. To help Kim get over the grief caused by the tragedy, Chuck decided that he will consider adoption as an option and would bring home a sunshine. Someone who would complete their family and would fill their hearts and life with love and laughter. However, it wasn’t that easy.

 

16 Long Years

It took quite long for Kim to consider adoption as a healthy option. She wanted to give birth to a baby rather than adopting one. The couple tried several times but surprisingly couldn’t conceive. Surely, destiny had made other plans for them. It took nearly 16 long years for the couple to adopt a child. Little did they know that they were bringing home someone who would change their lives forever.

 

Welcome Home

It was in the year 2000, that Kim and Chuck adopted a baby girl. The baby was a few months old when she was handed over to this couple. Kim named her adopted baby girl as Caitlyn. There was a reason she named her this. Caitlyn is derived from the word “Catherine” i.e often referred to as Christian locally and means “pure”. The Walkers were a happy family now. Their family was complete. Kim and Chuck had a teenage boy Brad and a loving daughter Caitlyn. Life was fulfilling and joyous in every sense, but they still felt that something was missing. And then one night while having their supper the couple comes across a news headline about a Chinese baby. Who knew that a news of a baby would turn their lives a three-sixty.

 

Was It Destined

The news report read that a Chinese baby girl was found wrapped in a paper box, right outside a train station. Though China was nearly 8000  miles away from Walkers’ place, the story of this baby girl crushed their hearts. All they said to themselves was, “where is humanity? How can someone just leave a little baby like that?”. Was the couples’ reaction towards this baby destined?  What was about to happen?

 

Visit To China

The couple knew that the missing part from their lives was nothing other than this abandoned baby girl. It was in the year 2003 that the news of a baby wrapped in the paper box was broadcasted. The couple immediately flew to China. They say, “God had a plan for another daughter in our lives”. However, even they didn’t know then that a clock lying at their place would play a pivotal role in this Chinese baby’s life.

 

Harsh Reality

After the amendment of the one-child policy in China, it was observed that many families abandoned their first-born daughters. It was done in the hope of giving birth to a baby boy who could further expand their family. Unfortunately, under this new law, a lot of baby girls were dropped at orphanages and were found abandoned on streets. Luckily, Walkers came to rescue this Chinese baby girl.

 

Search Begins

On reaching China, finding that Chinese baby girl became a tiresome task. The couple wasn’t able to locate the baby. Even after searching through the web and following the news feeds, the couple could get no whereabouts about her. They then visited the train station where she was first seen. There they got to know that the baby girl was shifted to a local orphanage. What happens next was heartwarming.

 

Love At First Sight

After much wait, the couple reached the local orphanage where the abandoned girl found refuge. The moment they saw her, their eyes radiated with happiness. She had big popped eyes, chubby cheeks, and very fine baby hair. When Kim picked the baby in her arms, her heart was filled with joy and satisfaction. The satisfaction she was missing in life. Then what? Walkers knew what they are supposed to do.

Bringing Home

Kim and Chuck signed all the necessary documents and undertook all the paperwork needed, and adopted this abandoned baby girl. For them, now in every sense, their family was complete. They along with the new member of the family flew back to Texas where the unbelievable took place.

 

Strange Happenings

Kim and Chuck named their daughter Kenzie. Kenzie soon adapted to her new life in Texas. She would play with Caitlyn and Brad often took her for walks. The poor abandoned Chinese girl now had a peaceful family life. Kenzie was being brought up just in the manner Brad and Caitlyn were. It was back then, she started playing with the family’s old clock when something strange happened.

 

The Grandfather’s Clock

The family owned a centuries-old grandfather’s clock. Every time the clock struck the hour, it will give out some music. Little Kenzie was amazed by this clock. As and when the clock would sing Kenzie would clap excitedly at it. It was then that the things took an interesting turn.

 

Mumbling At It

As the girl grew a little older, she would sing along the clock. She would mumble out words and would make sounds in contrast with the clock. She made sure that her sounds complemented every word that came from the clock. Her voice would be in the same tone and melody as the clock.

 

Left Surprised

Kim and Chuck initially did not pay much attention to this. But as they realized that this was a constant ritual that their daughter followed, they were absolutely amazed at it. Not only did Kenzie found a new home but she also discovered her talent. Walke’s started believing that their youngest child was a gifted one. Gifted with a beautiful voice.

 

Born Talented

Kim in an interview says that “whenever Kenzie heard the clock chime she walked up to it and looked at it and mimicked the sound – exactly on the pitch”. This not so usual habit of their daughter compelled the couple to take a decision that shaped Kenzie’s life forever.

Music Lessons

Walker’s thought that it is a good idea to provide their daughter’s hidden talent with a right path that could help her in the near future. Thus, as Kenzie grew a little older, they appointed a music tutor for her. The musician provided Kenzie with the notes she always needed. Her singing now got a steady path. Things were just starting for her.

 

Passionate Singer

After taking musical classes, Kenzie’s confidence increased a manifold. Her broken notes were now shaped into perfect pitch notes. She would now often sing to her friends who visited her. Not only this but her parents also encouraged her to sing at family gatherings. Yet there was a question that came to everyone who heard Kenzie singing.

 

Is This Possible

Kenzie undoubtedly was gifted with a melodious voice. She had a voice that calmed the soul and was soothing to ears. No one could wrap their heads around the fact that a little girl owes her voice to a decade old grandfather’s clock. Is this even possible that a clock could do something like this? However, this is a debatable topic, but many research studies say that if a baby often listens to a particular kind of sound be it a poem, song or beats, he is believed to grab and learn it faster. Continuous listening to a specific note can make a child vigilant to that particular sound in the near future. A child can literally react to the voice he has often heard as a baby. Wow!

Gaining Popularity

Kenzie says she can’t recall when she actually started singing. All she knows is that after getting herself trained under a professional musician, she started to sing everywhere. And as her singing became popular she was offered a chance of a lifetime.

 

The Golden Opportunity

Kenzie often went with her parents to see the baseball game. In the years to follow, she did not know that the game which she enjoyed watching would turn out to be the same which would make her a popular voice worldwide. Kenzie was asked to sing at one of the baseball matches. That was incredible.
