These People Were Ghosted Worse Than You’ve Ever Been

There’s not much worse than being ghosted. Strangers opened up about their worst ghosting experiences, and they’re more brutal than anything you’ve gone through. Such as this tale of woe from Ysis Sobreira:

“I met a girl on Tinder, and we agreed to meet up on a Wednesday. She was going to message me about where to meet up around 4. I got ready, but she never sent the message. At 8:30, she finally got in touch, saying that she had gone to a nearby city with friends to see someone else.
”

Raísa Sutecas Pin at least gained a new excuse from this fella:

“I had been talking to this engineer, who ended up asking me out. On the day of our date, he sent me a message wishing me a good day and confirming our plans, and then all day we talked. Three hours before our date, he said that a wall had caved in on one of his job sites, and he was going to be late. I said it was fine, he probably should get that wall fixed first, you know? He never ended up showing up or responding. I spent four days thinking that he’d died at the job site — but one day I did catch him checking out my stories. Nowadays, I use the ol’ ‘a wall caved in’ excuse myself when I have to bail on plans.”

Paula Romano is like a Pokémon trainer, cause she caught this little monster:

“I was planning on going out with this guy who sounded like a great person. We planned to meet at a plaza downtown. I waited for an hour, and he never showed. I called, I send him messages, the works, and got nothing from him. It was so shitty. When I got home, he said that he’d stopped to help a guy who got sick on the bus. Little did he know, he’d forgotten to untag himself from a photo taken at a bar with him surrounded by women, curiously around the same time as his Good Samaritan moment.
”

Raquel Vedana wishes we could all do away with spoiler alerts:

“I was talking with a guy on Tinder. We started talking about the movie Logan, which had just come out. I mentioned being disappointed that he hadn’t seen it yet, and he got all mad like I’d just leaked a spoiler. So he ghosted me.
”

Bruno Aguiar actually got a truthful, “It’s not you. It’s me”:

“One time, I went out to dinner with a guy who I was just getting to know. We had just ordered and were chatting, until he said that he had to go to the pharmacy really quick. It was right next to the restaurant, and he said he’d forget to go if he waited until later. I said okay. He left. And he never came back. I replayed that night over and over in my head for months, thinking about what I had said, done, etc. About six months later, I found out that he was married to a woman and that his wife had been following him, and that when he went on dates, she ended up tracking him down. And there I was thinking he left because of all the food I’d ordered.
”

Jess Caroline learned what is dead may never die:

“I was going out with a guy who lived in a nearby city, and we’d always made the effort to try to see each other when we could. It had been a few weeks since we’d seen each other. I had a copy of Game of Thrones that I’d never read, so I sold it for cash to buy a bus ticket, because I was sure we were going to hang out on Friday. He stopped responding Thursday night, and I sent him a ton of desperate messages. His status said he was online, but he never responded until Monday, saying that I was the ‘right person at the wrong time.’
”

Pity poor Camila Castro. You can tell she had high hopes for this date:

“He said he wouldn’t be able to come because he was at a workers’ rights protest. I guess it was fine, but I’d already shaved my legs.

This person wanted to remain anonymous, and I can’t blame them:

“My ex told me that she was going to go pay some bills, so I imagined she’d be back home in a few hours. Six hours later, I was waiting by the phone, worried sick. Since she wasn’t responding, I decided I’d check in with her sister, who said she’d seen her downtown with an ex. When she finally came home, she passed right out. Her phone vibrated, and I went to check on it. That’s when I saw a message from her ex saying “I love you too.”
”

Iaia Correia thought she saw a ghost while being ghosted:

“I spent a while talking to a guy. We eventually planned on meeting up at his place. I went there, and his grandpa let me in. The grandpa was super nice and we just waited together. Later on, this guy called me crying and freaking out, saying he had to cancel because HIS GRANDPA HAD DIED. His grandpa was listening in on the conversation and asked me what was going on, and I told him: ‘He said you just died.’ The poor man didn’t understand me at first, but then afterwards apologized on behalf of his grandson. Later that day, the actual guy messaged me asking for forgiveness. I read them, but I never responded and I blocked him.
”

Bia Fuentes has one more good reason to hate this company:

“I met this guy on Tinder, and we planned to meet up. I spent two hours waiting for him and nothing! Then he gave this explanation. He said he wasn’t going to come because he wasn’t comfortable around strangers. Plot twist: he was an Uber driver.
”

Marina Ferreira Megale teaches us you need to keep an eye on your surroundings:

“I was talking to this guy on Tinder and found out that he was at a bar super close to me. I suggested that we meet up, and he showed up, but then said he had to go to the bathroom. He never came back. I stayed at the bar with a friend and later noticed he was STILL AT THE BAR. He had just left me hanging to go bark up other trees.

“One time, I went to see a crush who lived in another state. I wanted to spend some time in his city with him, so we made plans about where to meet. We talked up until the day before we were supposed to meet. That day, I waited for three hours at the city bus station for him. He never showed. When I returned home, I found out that he was already in a relationship.
”

Amanda Kauane learned to never trust a guy who admits to being a mama’s boy:

“I was making plans with a guy for Friday night, and he said he couldn’t go out with me because it was his mom’s birthday. I said it was fine and that I understood, so I just ended up going out with some girlfriends. Later that night, another friend invited me to a house party. On the way there, I mentioned that I didn’t get to see my guy today because of his mom. My friend told me he was literally at this house party — with another girl. I couldn’t stand to go and see it for myself.
”

Avellar Paz may win, since he ghosted the girl back that ghosted him:

“One of my exes wanted to celebrate her birthday with a night out at the club. On the day of, she said that her parents, who were very strict, weren’t letting her go, even though everything was organized — cake and all. She said that she would just wait until they fell asleep, so I waited up to hear from her. She never got in touch, it got late, and I went to bed. The next day, I saw a bunch of photos of her out at the club. I never followed up or reached out to her. I just let it die, and that’s how it ended.
